The setec Foundation renews its partnership with the incubator Action pour l’Economie de Communion en Afrique Centrale for the empowerment and professional integration project for internally displaced persons in the Central, Coastal and West regions of Cameroon, in the town of Dschang.
Objectives
The main aim of the project is to promote the professional integration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the target regions – Centre, Littoral and West – by enabling them to achieve financial and economic autonomy. As a reminder, Cameroon has been facing a crisis in the North-West and South-West regions for several years, where violence perpetrated by armed groups has forced many people to flee to neighboring areas, abandoning all their possessions.
More specifically, the project includes the following actions:
- Identification of IDPs who already have skills in trades such as sewing, hairdressing, shoe-making, etc.
- Training beneficiaries in the management of small businesses.
- Financial support for the launch or development of their activities.
- Technical and psychosocial support throughout their integration process.
Calendar
The project has been underway since April 2025 and will be completed in September of the same year.
Final impact of the project
The project will contribute to the financial and economic empowerment of trained IDPs, enabling them to provide for their families after having lost everything due to displacement. By encouraging the creation of a job within each beneficiary household, the project aims to sustainably lift these families out of extreme poverty.
The role of the setec Foundation
The setec Foundation is supporting this initiative to the tune of 15,570 euros, with Cynthia Tuwa Tangmo and Norbert Kouawa, setec employees and co-sponsors of the project, ensuring follow-up in the field.
